About Olivia Thompson

Career Summary

Originally from the UK, I moved to Dubai three years ago and spent that time travelling the world as cabin crew with Emirates. Working in such a fast-paced and multicultural environment strengthened my communication skills and taught me how to build rapport with people from all backgrounds. It also fuelled my love of learning about new people, cultures and places, and experiencing different ways of life around the world. I’ve now brought that experience into my role at Aventus Global Talent, where I specialise in recruitment across Product, Data and Digital within the GCC.

Why Recruitment?

Recruitment felt like a natural next step because it allows me to use the people skills I developed throughout my previous career in a more commercially focused environment. I enjoy building relationships, learning what motivates people and creating opportunities that can genuinely influence someone’s career or support a company’s growth. I’m also naturally driven, so I love the fast pace, independence and sense of progression the industry offers.

I chose Aventus because the company is ambitious and high-performing while still being supportive and genuinely people-focused. I’m given the freedom to build my own network and develop my market, but I also have an experienced team around me who are always willing to share their knowledge and help one another succeed.

I also really value being in an environment where I’m constantly learning, being challenged and developing both personally and professionally. Aventus gives me the opportunity to build something of my own while being part of an ambitious and growing business.

Fun Fact

I have a degree in Policing & Criminal Investigation, which probably explains why I’m naturally so curious! I love knowing a little bit about everything and I’m constantly searching for answers to the most obscure questions that pop into my head. My friends are used to me randomly announcing facts about everything from history and geography to films and completely useless trivia - whether they asked to know them or not!
